Ozense is a pre-founding research and development project. No data protection officer has been appointed under § 38 BDSG (German Federal Data Protection Act), because the conditions requiring one are not met.
2. Server log files
When you access this website, the hosting provider automatically processes technical access data, in particular your IP address, the date and time of access, the page requested, the volume of data transferred, the referrer and your browser and operating system identification.
This processing serves the technical operation, stability and security of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in providing the service reliably and securely. The data is not merged with other data sources and is not used to identify individual persons.
3. Hosting
This website runs on a virtual server in the DigitalOcean data centre in Frankfurt. The provider is DigitalOcean, LLC, 105 Edgeview Drive, Suite 425, Broomfield, CO 80021, USA. DigitalOcean processes the access data listed in section 2 as a processor pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
The server is located in the European Union. As the provider is headquartered in the USA, processing in a third country cannot be entirely ruled out. The contractual arrangements concluded with DigitalOcean apply, including the data processing agreement and the EU standard contractual clauses.
4. Contact form and contact by e-mail
If you contact us via the contact form or by e-mail, we process the data you provide – name, e-mail address, selected subject and message text – in order to handle your enquiry and in case of follow-up questions.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry is directed at concluding or performing a contract or at pre-contractual measures, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Form submissions are received server-side and delivered by e-mail to the contact address named above. The e-mail service provider for the domain ozense.ai is involved in that delivery. The form data is not stored in a database of our own.
The form contains a field invisible to you for spam protection (honeypot). It collects no additional personal data and does not evaluate your usage behaviour. No captcha service is used.
Your enquiry and the related correspondence are deleted as soon as they are no longer required to achieve the purpose and no statutory retention obligations prevent it.
5. Cookies and storage on your device
This website stores no information on your device. Neither cookies nor local storage, session storage or IndexedDB are written – neither for technical operation nor for analytics, tracking or marketing purposes. This also applies to submitting the contact form and to the visitor statistics described in section 6.
The only thing read is a single local storage entry, and only in order to respect an objection to the visitor statistics that you have stored yourself (section 6). As long as you have not registered an objection, that entry does not exist and no information is read from your device. Because this neither stores information nor retrieves it for any purpose other than implementing your own objection, the consent requirement of § 25(1) TDDDG (German Digital Services Data Protection Act) does not apply. No consent is required, and for the same reason no cookie or consent banner is shown to you on this website.
No advertising services and no third-party web analytics services are used. The reach measurement described in section 6 runs exclusively on our own server and works without cookies and without persistent recognition. No profiling and no automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.
Should a service requiring consent be added in future, it will only be loaded after your express consent. This policy and any consent dialogue then required will be amended accordingly beforehand.
6. Reach measurement (visitor statistics)
In order to see how often this website is accessed and which pages are viewed, we carry out a data-minimising reach measurement using the open-source software GoatCounter. The software runs on the same server as this website (section 3). No transmission to an analytics service, an advertising network or any other third party takes place, and your browser establishes no connection to another server for this purpose.
The following is recorded per page view: the page requested, the referring page (referrer), the country of origin, the browser and operating system family, the screen width, and the date and time. This information is aggregated into daily totals and additionally stored as an individual record per page view, so that the course of a visit can be followed and the analysis refined afterwards. Location data more precise than the country, and your browser's language setting, are deliberately not collected.
Your IP address is not stored. Together with the browser identification it is held in memory only, for at most eight hours, and mapped there to a randomly generated string. Neither the IP address nor the full browser identification reaches the database. Only this random identifier is stored – including on the individual records – and it serves solely to relate several views within the same visit to one another and avoid counting them more than once. After eight hours the mapping is irretrievably lost and the same browser receives a new identifier; visits on different days therefore cannot be linked to one another. The country of origin is determined offline from a database held locally on the server – your IP address does not leave the server for this.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in being able to understand the use of our own offering statistically and to develop the content according to need. Identifying individual visitors is not possible for us on the basis of this data, nor do we attempt it.
The individual records are deleted automatically no later than 90 days after they are collected. The daily totals derived from them are retained beyond that; they no longer permit any reference to an individual visit and serve to compare longer periods.
Objection: You can switch the counting off for your browser at any time by following this link. Doing so places an entry in your browser that prevents any further counting; following the link again revokes the objection. Using a script or tracking blocker is equally effective.
7. External services and embedded content
This website embeds no third-party content. Fonts, images, videos, scripts and stylesheets are delivered exclusively from ozense.ai; no connections are made to Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts or other external font services.
Furthermore, no social media plugins, map services, advertising networks, external video embeds such as YouTube or Vimeo, external form or captcha services, or third-party content delivery networks are used. When you access this website your browser therefore establishes no connection to any provider other than the hosting provider named in section 3; your IP address is consequently not transmitted to any further third party.
8. Interactive demonstrations
The interactive radar demonstrations on this website (Ozense Lab, FMCW Lab and the learning modules of the Radar Academy) run entirely in your browser. Your inputs are not transmitted to our server and are not stored.
9. Recipients and disclosure
Your data is disclosed exclusively to the processors engaged to provide the service (hosting, e-mail delivery) and where we are legally obliged to do so. No sale or transmission for advertising purposes takes place.
10. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and a right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You may withdraw any consent given at any time with effect for the future.
A message to the contact address named above is sufficient to exercise your rights. Independently of this, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular with the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen).
11. Changes to this policy
We adapt this privacy policy when the services actually used or the legal situation change. The version published here at the relevant time applies.
